The “Green Team” is a voluntary group of the University of Crete, consisting of members of the university community and was created in order to develop proposals for the environmental upgrading of the university and the organization of events, small interventions and the sensitization of the other members of the university community so that they can all take action and show and prove that climate change concerns us all.
It is made up of young people who “no longer allow tolerance and have no tolerance for the absurdities of people who commit crimes against the environment”.
They have already won the first prize at the Climathon Heraklion… but this is the least important, since since October 2018, when they were formed as a team (at the climate change conference, Climathon Heraklion), they have proven that one person becomes four and the team creates the trend and the dream.
APE-MPA spoke with Michalis Bourbakis, Athos Paralikis, Antonis Geropoulos and Haris Lives. “We were introduced to each other in the university community last April and now the core of the group has 4 more people, Elpiniki Hachlaki – a postgraduate student at the Chemical Department of Crete, Maria Mathioudaki – a graduate of Psychology of Crete, Konstantina Apostolaki – a student of the Mathematics Department and Alexandros Paralikas – a student of the Materials Department and together we all move through a continuous collaboration with u.grow that provides us with assistance in matters concerning the university. Our team was formed with an eye for what is able to lead students to participate in volunteering for the environment. That is, we were driven by our love for nature and the environment.
